You’re! invited! to! join!

Music of the Eighties will be a weekly comic strip - autobiographical, loosely structured, kinda meta - exploring life and music between 1980 and 1990 (and the ages of 10 and 20).

Each strip will be accompanied by a relevant song, which doesn’t work in FB and Instagram. That’s mostly why you want this. I’ll also include any relevant extras.

Sign up now so you don’t miss anything. Also check out misterjep.com - there’s a ton of crap there.

The series proper will launch on Wednesday, Dec 30th. You’re invited in advance, because I love you.

cheers and happy new year

Music of the 80s Intro.

Music of the Eighties Song o’ the Week

Joe Dolce’s Shaddap You Face was released in 1980. It was a novelty song that became a little controversial in Sarnia, where Italians were the big group after “white”. I have a memory of hearing it discussed on the radio while doing a Saturday morning trip to the Dump with my father. Ahh. Memories. The Dump! Identity-based controversies! Terrible Joke Songs that just work!

Correction: I spelled the title wrong in the strip. It’s “Shaddap You Face” -not “Shaddupa You Face”.
