One thing that is amazing is it makes you realize that a lot of these important figures from this time period were not necessarily geniuses, but just happened to be in the right place at the right time. No job interviews or anything like that. Klien originally started out in the music business as an accountant, but he never even got his degree. The second big takeaway is how naive the Beatles and the entire music industry were when it came to money. Was Allen Klien a saint? Definitely no. But he was a Jewish American working in the ridiculously staid British entertainment field, and I think this has a lot to do with why he was hated. Great write up- I’m watching Get Back now, too. Your comparison to Romeo and Juliet is solid, and that’s coming from another 9th grade English teacher! I also keep having intrusive thoughts of the future assassination of Lennon and the early death of George (as I watch him smoke a lot).
